To Be Private or Not Private

Scott and I are considering doing something I NEVER thought I would do; make this blog private.

We realize there is a lot of personal info on here, and maybe that makes us a little nervous. But, I really like having this blog accessible for friends and family. But I also kind of think maybe 2 or 3 people read this, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal to make it private.

I was wondering if anyone else had opinions on a private blog versus a public blog? Those with kids, how do you feel? Our first and last name are in the URL, which looking back, wasn't the smartest decision. I try to keep last names out of the post, but I realize our last name is all over other blogs. What to do?

So, my questions are,

-Private vs Public, where do you fall?
-If Private would you still read it?
-If Private would you like an invite?

We honestly want anyone who is interested to keep reading, students of Scott, or brides of mine, we are equal opportunity around here. We are just worried about strange and disturbed male that might be lurking. And that may be a stretch, but then again, there are some crazies out there.

Anyway, feedback please. And yes, I know this photo has nothing to do with this post, but it is Monday and I'm still sick and Lucy is cute.

The Used Spoon

To give a little background to this story you should know that I,

A-love the fair
B-hadn't eaten anything but Grape Nuts since 11 AM, so was very excited for fair fare
C-It was a hot, hot day
D-Scott has been a little forgetful lately

Here is the story from my point of view,

We got to fair and the very first thing on the agenda was to eat, since we were both starving. The only problem was it was soo hot, so we didn't feel like eating. Cue in magical Gelateria.

Golden.

I thought we could have some gelato to take the edge off and then pick out some other food at our leisure. I only tell you this so you know how hungry I was and how excited I was to eat that Gelato. So we ordered, Scott handed me my ice cream cup with a spoon in it. I ate about half of it before Scott came rushing over and grabbed my spoon out, mumbling something about the wrong spoon.

Here is the story from Scott's point of view,

We ordered and the girl handed him my gelato without a spoon. He thought that was a little strange, but then noticed a whole box full of spoons on the counter. He put one in my gelato and got one for himself. After he paid and was walking over to where Lucy and I were waiting in the shade, he looked back at the counter and saw that the box was labeled TRASH on the side. If you have been to the fair, you know the full implications of what this means. He quickly took my spoon away and went back to ask the girl for a fresh one.

and this was her response, "Ohhhhhhh, yeah,"

She then went ALL the way to the BACK of the store to get clean, not licked by random people spoon.

So there you go. This happened in the first 5 minutes of us being there and really set the stage for the awesomeness that followed later.

Bathroom Remodel

Our bathroom is gross. So gross I'm not even going to post a picture of it.

We have been living with it for 3 years, but now that Lucy is taking baths sans baby bath we decided there is no time like the present. The reason we haven't jumped into this project before is because we only have one bathtub/shower. No shower = stinky family.

We have the tile already picked out. Isn't it pretty?

We are going with a 3X6 subway tile, but the one we picked out is off-white

I really, really wanted a hex tile and found a pretty good deal at Arizona Tile. By pretty good deal, I mean it was 1/4 the price of the glass hex I found at Contempo.
See how I cut back? This isn't quite the color, but close.

This floor mat is pretty

So is this shower curtain

Another view of the 3X6. We will be removing the molding wood that surround the window in the shower (WHO has a window in their shower?!?), and adding tile molding pieces.

Woosy and Scott

James (4-year-old nephew)

"Windsey, you call Woosy sweetie, but why does Scott call her stinky?"

Lucy might be stinky pants to Scott, but I think they have something pretty great going on.

Taggart Lake

This was one of my favorite days in Jackson this year. It was just the three of us, as the rest of the family took off for Yellowstone (which we knew wouldn't work with our squirmy 9-month-old). We hadn't hiked Taggart before and it was such a pretty trail. We decided to take the long way home and although scenic, I became pretty convinced we were surrounded by bears. The long way home is apparently the road less traveled, and therefore we were alone on the trail.

Alone with hidden bears.

So, I started singing and clapping and I even got Scott a little nervous, because he joined in. It was one of the prettiest parts of the trail (bears like pretty spots), but I was too scared to stop and take a picture. And for the record, I sang Dream On, which sounded pretty pathetic.

Lucy, having absolute no idea that our lives were endangered, chattered the whole time and "ooh, oohed" the water, birds, trees, wind and talked herself to sleep.

We finished our adventure off with some tacos from one of our favorite restaurants.

All in all, a pretty wonderful day.

You might wonder why I'm so scared of bears.

There are several reasons,

1-I have seen bears on trails before.
2-I have read "Night of the Grizzlies" a lovely story about two campers who were eaten and mauled (yes eaten) by grizzly bears on the same night.
3-My greatest fear is being eaten by a wild animal. For real.

Magic

These photos of Jacob at Jenny Lake are pure magic to me. I see childhood, in all of it's wonder, excitement and discovery. I love these two pictures so much.

And, I couldn't have taken these photos with digital. Film is magic. Pure and simple.

My View

Dear Lucy,

I hope I never forget what your feet are like right now.

They are constantly moving, turning, flexing, pushing, twisting and bouncing.

In the car you sing to them, and in the bike trailer, you push them up against the mesh screen, and I grab them from the other side and tickle your toes.

Your cute feet are chubby and kissable and although you don't have the patience for, "this little piggy," you like your feet to be tickled and munched on.

I have said it before, but I wish I could bottle this time up and revisit it whenever I start missing your scrunchy baby toes.
