2 Guns, a Teddy Bear and a Box of Clay Pigeons

Every Thanksgiving the Stewart's hold their annual Clay Pigeon Shootout. It is a long standing tradition in the Stewart family to get up early Thanksgiving morning, drive straight west to the middle of nowhere and shoot guns for a couple of hours. The event holds no suspense for me...Surprise! I missed all of my shots in the first round and I'm out. For the men in this family it means something so much more. It means that the winner gets a stale Reese's cup purchased at the gas station on the way home and bragging rights for a year. Testosterone driven, the males fight it out-trash talking all the way. This year I brought my camera and that proved to be much more exciting for me than shooting with a gun. It was a really beautiful cold day and I had fun capturing all the nail biting action and male bonding.

I'm bored.

Typical Stewart male bonding.

So pretty, sooo cold!

I'm so anti-gun, it's weird to watch Scott shoot one.

Triumphant Bruce!

Where are we again?

This sad, mangled teddy was found abandoned in the field. It was strangely amusing to see the teddy bear get blown to smitherins.

Scott's Moment of Zen

As you probably know, The Daily Show includes a bit called the "Moment of Zen." I'm making my first (yes my first) contribution to our blog a "Moments of Zen" section. It will be changed/updated weekly, or as often as I think it should be. I picked this lovely moment as the first post.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

This is Scott and I pre-Thanksgiving dinner. We have since changed into our expandable pajama pants and are lying in the fetal position moaning. So, in other words, a normal evening . . . we just substituted turkey for chocolate. We hope your Thanksgiving was as enjoyable as ours.

2007 Stewart Thanksgiving Shootout

Coming soon. Be forewarned, there is plenty of Stewart male bonding. Good job holding hands guys. . . wait what?

TAGGED

I've been tagged!!
The rules:
A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
OK, here it goes:

Fact: I get really excited about specialty drinks. I love homemade limeade's, Izzie drinks, fresh squeezed apple, strawberry orange juice, limonata...If it is in a special can with a cute label I'm in heaven. I loved being in England and trying different drinks like currant squash. I'm kind of picky though. When I'm at a restaurant I will only order lemonade if it is fresh squeezed. None of the high-fructose syrup for me-unless it is an Italian Soda.

Fact: I secretly get addicted to silly TV Shows. The last one was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was so into it, but I didn't want anyone to watch it with me because I felt stupid. I always made Scott leave the room because he made fun of me. It has been awhile since this has happened with TV, but I recently got addicted to the Twilight series. I read all 3 books in a week-the 1st book in one night. I guess this fact is not so much a secret anymore.

Fact: As mentioned above, I can read a book in a day. I have always done this, but most recently this happened with Harry Potter and the Twilight books. I don't know why I do this, it actually kind of stressful. If I'm really into a book though, I can't put it down. I know I should savor the moment longer, but I'm so busy I try to squeeze a lot in when I have time.

Fact: I loved school so much that when I graduated 2 years ago I cried. I still miss school, but it helps that I'm not a secretary anymore. I'm so grateful that I get to work in my field. I miss though the days and nights spent in the darkroom. I miss the classroom discussions, working on new projects and feeling part of the school community.

Fact: Scott and I will stay up until the wee hours of the morning discussing crazy things like, "what is art" and "mythic literature." We often have different opinions. I can get really frustrated that Scott doesn't agree with all of my amazing thoughts. This usually leads to me asking why are we discussing this at 2AM-we need to go bed! Really, though I love that we can discuss these things. It is nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of. However, sometimes when it is 2Am we really should go to bed. It is no fun waking up the next morning for work.

Fact: If I was a super hero I would have a power that had to do with time. I would either freeze time like that girl in the 80's sitcom "Out of this World". Does anyone remember this random show? The main character's dad was an alien and she could put her 2 index fingers together and stop time. I have tried doing this over the years when I wanted more sleep. Disappointedly, it never worked. The other power I would want would be to go back in time but have all that I have accomplished so far remain the same. For example I would go back to October 1st, but have all the remodeling I've already done stay the same. This way there isn't more work, but I have more time. Scott says I daily ask for it to be September, October 2nd, 3 weeks ago etc. I guess either of the super powers are a variation on the same thing, I always want more time.

I am tagging-Tara & Emily. I don't know many people with blogs and Taryn already tagged BreeAnn and Tierny so I can't fulfill my quota.

My Last Post Regarding Halloween...This Year

Here are some details from the McDermott Halloween party last weekend. The image directly below was the invitation. So cute. There was a finger inside. My Halloween was both crazy and uneventful. The trick-or-treaters came through Foothill Village and that was crazy. We do free costume pictures and from 2-6 :30 there was a constant line. Sometimes the line went all the way out the door. There were the cutest kids this year. I was dying over some of the costumes. Some of my favorites were Nacho Libre, Thing 1 and Thing 2 (Dr. Seuss), a little goldilocks (she must have been 2 and had a long blond wig) and 2 darling British kids who were pirates. One of the pirates had wavy pumpkin colored hair. Between that and the accent how could you not think he was the cutest thing ever. The kids were all super excited and for the most part it went very smoothly. It was lots of fun but very tiring. My knees are bruised from constantly kneeling on the ground. That evening I went home and crashed. I think Scott ate cereal and I skipped dinner. We are excited to have the kitchen almost up and running so we can start eating meals like normal people. I hope all of you had a wonderful Halloween with lots of treats and not many tricks!
